Recently there is a rise in calls regarding water heater inspection, which I believe is cause by the recent news of Malaysians being electrocuted in the bathroom. The question is do you need an inspection on your water heater installation? Today most water heater if not all have a safety function (ELCB) within the heater itself. If you actually read the manual, which all don’t! You only need to press the test button on your heater to activate the emergency cut off. That button is to test whether will the electricity cut off before it reaches you. Back then you only get to rely on your ELCB located in your Main Switch Board. So … why is people being killed if everything is so safe? I suspect those who are killed are using old water heater (my opinion) combine with wiring method below TNB standard. The problem usually lies with the electrician, they lack not electrical skills but business sense. What?? Business sense????@#$%## 99% electrician you call are so desperate for money and their only way for them to get the deal is to compete in pricing. They are so broke that they don’t enough wires and choose not to connect your green wire (earth/safety wire); sometimes they join it with multiple wires (higher risk of not working) which means if there is leakage of electricity you will be electrocuted to death. Look at our picture, we don’t really need to join wires as we always bring more than enough materials; top quality materials as our business model focus on competing on quality not pricing. They don’t post their client online so they are always not accountable! Back to the question, water heater inspection relevant? Well that depends on you…
